New Year’s Resolution for Your Home

With January here, the New Year has finally arrived with endless possibilities. You feel this year will be different, not allowing any obstacle to prevent you from accomplishing your goals.

Since 2018 has rolled around, you may have vowed to adopt a healthier lifestyle, quit unhealthy habit, or spend more time with family and friends. We can’t forget about one important thing – your home. You spend the most time inside, why not also make resolutions for your space. They do say home is where your heart is; let’s make it lovelier, more organized, and comfortable for you and your family.

  1. Reduce the Use of Energy

Improving the planet while you’re also improving your home goes hand in hand. Going green could make this year truly exceptional. Start by considering solar panels or a hybrid vehicle, but these are not the only ways you can make a difference.

Start recycling, turn lights off when not in use, and run water only while rinsing in the sink.  Not only will this be better for the planet, but will also reduce your bills tremendously.

  1. Design a Healthy and Family Friendly Kitchen

The kitchen is the main attraction in a home, it’s the place where families gather together in one or more ways. So, there is no question as to why you shouldn’t make it a healthy, and family friendly kitchen? Keep your kitchen organized and stock nutritious food in both the pantry and refrigerator. You can also transform your kitchen to be more accessible by making a kids only zone.

  1. Keep Indoor Air Uncontaminated

The quality of air inside your home is the most significant indicators to the quality of the environment you’re living in. The indoor air can be full of contaminants such as dust and pollen. To eliminate harmful toxins and irritants in your home, make sure to maintain for HVAC system.

  1. Install low-maintenance and Durable Materials

Artificial plants can be used as home decor if you don’t have the time to tend to flower or plants in your garden.

  1. Get your space organized

One of the most affordable, in fact, the best way to feel better about your home is getting rid of clutter. The act itself may be overwhelming, but can you think of any better way to start the new year with an organized home? Not to mention, you will have extra storage space to keep things tidy without looking cramped.

  1. Get Your Finances Right

Draft a budget for your expenses this year, this will enable you to get your finances in order for the entire year. Allocate a budget for home improvement and maintenance to your house.

  1. Keep Your Home Safe and Sound

Make sure fire detectors are in working condition so you aren’t living with a potential fire, health or safety risk. Let’s not forget about ventilation in your home, make sure it’s properly installed. Installing door and window alarms wouldn’t hurt for that extra assurance.

  1. Work on Home Improvement Projects Together

Why not work on neat home improvement projects while spending quality time together with the family? This is a terrific way to also start or finish projects you may need help with. Try out a DIY project. Or go the organic route and plant a tree in the backyard.

  1. Create a Plan to Keep Organized

We all want a neat home to come home to, but we all fear the act of maintaining, or cleaning all together. Creating a solid schedule by devising daily, or weekly as well as monthly tasks to keep your home in order.

  1. Make Your Home More Inviting

Each year we vow to devote more time to family and friends – you can start with making your home cozier. Start in the place where you welcome guest to unwind and get comfortable. Try adding new cushions, or placing a new rug that can make a noticeable difference. The guest bedroom is an essential part of a guest’s experience, we want them to enjoy their stay while being cozy and comfortable.
